Choose your boundary first

Decide what you want to avoid: all footage, story details, or only late-game events. You do not need to read a spoiler list to make that decision. Share the boundary with the people you normally play or chat with.

Treat the controls below as ways to reduce exposure. They cannot promise a spoiler-free internet, and they cannot stop a friend from writing something you did not want to know.

Check X's escape routes

Add game-name variants such as GTA VI, GTA 6, GTAVI and GTA6 to X's muted words. Select Home timeline and Notifications, then check the duration. The From anyone option controls notification muting; it is not a separate timeline setting.

X lists two important exceptions: matching search results remain visible, and mobile post notifications you opted into for followed accounts are not covered. Review those account alerts separately. For stricter avoidance, avoid game-title searches while you play through the story.

Tune YouTube without watching the spoiler

On supported surfaces such as Home and Watch Next, use Not interested or Don't recommend channel where offered. Some controls require sign-in. YouTube describes this as recommendation feedback, not a universal block on a channel or every unwanted title and thumbnail.

Our practical recommendation is to keep a direct bookmark to any guide you already trust and avoid broad recommendation feeds when you need one specific answer. You do not need to play a recommendation before using its available feedback menu.

Agree on one rule with friends

A useful message is: “Please ask before posting GTA VI story details or clips in this chat. Put the stage of the game before any spoiler, not the reveal itself.”

Keep your plan short: chosen boundary, platform controls checked, friends told, and a date to review it. Revisit your settings as you progress rather than collecting more keywords that themselves reveal the story.
