Separate three different questions

Can the accessory connect to the console? Can it control the intended game? Can you use it comfortably? A yes to one is not a yes to all three.

For native PS5 play, do not buy a DualShock 4 on the strength of a successful pairing test. Sony lists it for supported PS4 games running on PS5. Check the specific accessory and intended game with the manufacturer, including any adapters in your setup.

Start with the GTA VI features already announced

PlayStation lists DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and controller-speaker effects for GTA VI. Those are announced game features, not speculation.

For a DualSense, PS5 already provides speaker-volume, vibration-intensity and trigger-effect-intensity controls under Settings > Accessories > Controller (General). Check those controls first. For needs such as button holds, text size or alternative audio cues, identify the exact game-specific adjustment you still need confirmed.

Prepare the controls you already own

For a DualSense, open Settings > Accessibility > Controllers > Custom Button Assignments for DualSense Wireless Controller. Console text-size and contrast controls are under Settings > Accessibility > Display and Sound.

Try your preferred setup in a game you already own. Record the default before changing a mapping, alter one thing at a time, and make sure you can navigate back. The purpose is to learn what works for you before the next game arrives.

  • Write down the controller's exact model and any adapters you use.
  • Check reach, repeated presses and grip comfort during your normal play session.
  • Keep a short record of useful mappings and how to restore the original layout.

Check the specific accessibility option

Sony explains how to check listed accessibility features from a game’s PlayStation Store hub: select the side panel or press triangle. These lists depend on the game supporting Accessibility Tags. Check any current GTA VI listing and Rockstar’s documentation for the option you need; an absent tag list alone does not establish that the game lacks an option.

Console accessibility settings and a list of DualSense effects are not a complete GTA VI accessibility specification. Verify how your required option affects the actual game. If a particular question remains unanswered, leave that item unresolved rather than assuming support or absence.

Your preparation note

Use three lines: “Device I own”, “Changes that help me”, and “GTA VI feature I still need confirmed”. That note is more useful than a universal best-controller recommendation. This guide is based on manufacturer documentation; we have not tested GTA VI or your personal setup.
