Open the source behind the screenshot

A cropped image is a lead to investigate. It is not a reliable way to check the current wording, the account behind it or whether the page has changed.

Start from the official Rockstar GTA VI page you have bookmarked. It links to official news and social accounts. Follow that route instead of trusting a lookalike handle, display name or link in a reply.

A current example: checked on 21 October 2026, that page lists 19 November 2026 and PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X|S. It already presents the Launch Trailer, An Extended Look and preorder material. Reopen the page before repeating a claim that nothing has been announced.

Do not make the badge do the checking

X says a blue checkmark reflects a qualifying Premium subscription; it is not proof of ID verification. X does not endorse or validate the account's views. A badge alone cannot establish a GTA VI announcement.

That does not make every subscribed account unreliable. It means the claim still needs its own evidence. Apply the same check to a claim you want to be true as to one you dislike.

Use a three-part receipt

Before sharing, write down the live URL, the exact claim in your own words, and when you checked it. Then ask whether the source actually supports the full sentence you intend to post.

  • Live source: can you open the original page or post?
  • Wording: does it confirm this fact, or only discuss a possibility?
  • Timing: is it the current announcement rather than an old post recirculating?

Handle missing or conflicting evidence

If the live source is unavailable, mark the claim unverified. If two official pages disagree, say what each says and wait for clarification rather than quietly choosing the version you prefer.

For example, a trailer's existence does not by itself establish an exact download size, unlock time or measured frame rate. Those claims need their own support. You can enjoy a theory without forwarding it as confirmed news.

Keep the source trail with the claim when you share it. A friend should be able to check the same evidence without trusting your screenshot or taking your word for it.

  2. X Help: what the blue checkmark means ↗

X says the blue checkmark indicates an active Premium subscription meeting eligibility requirements, not proof of ID verification. X also says it does not endorse or validate the views of blue-check accounts. This does not imply every blue-check account has or has not completed separate ID verification.
